The Clinical Lab Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting the educational objectives of the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) education program by providing assistance and support in the clinical laboratory setting. This position involves collaborating with faculty, students, and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory sessions and the achievement of program goals. Laboratory Preparation: Prepare laboratory materials, equipment, and supplies for scheduled PTA laboratory sessions. Assistance During Sessions: Assist faculty and students during laboratory sessions by providing guidance, demonstrations, and technical support as needed. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instrumentation. Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs as necessary. Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment. Monitor stock levels and coordinate procurement as needed. Safety Compliance: Adhere to established safety protocols and guidelines within the laboratory setting. Provide instruction to students on proper safety procedures and practices. Documentation and Recordkeeping: Maintain detailed records of laboratory activities, including equipment usage, supply consumption, and safety inspections. Collaboration: Collaborate with faculty and other staff members to develop and implement laboratory exercises, experiments, and demonstrations that support the educational objectives of the PTA program. Student Support: Provide support and assistance to PTA students as they engage in laboratory activities. Offer guidance on laboratory techniques, procedures, and best practices. Quality Assurance: Assist with quality assurance initiatives to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of laboratory procedures and results. Professional Development: Stay informed about advancements in laboratory techniques, equipment, and technologies relevant to the field of physical therapy. Participate in professional development activities as appropriate. Open Lab: Provide students with opportunities for open lab, in collaboration with program coordinator and monitor attendance at open lab. Tutoring: Provide 1 on 1 and group tutoring regarding physical therapist assistant program courses during open lab hours. Physical therapist and/or physical therapist assistant degree required. 1 year experience in the field of physical therapy required. Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and procedures. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Proficiency with basic computer applications and laboratory equipment. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a positive learning environment.
