Duties As a Clinical Psychologist, you will perform the following duties: Utilize assessments instruments and clinical skills to provide diagnostic evaluations of each inmate. Assess mental status, motivation, concerns, etc. to identify areas needing resolution for successful adaptation and treatment to occur. Apply clinical psychology services, including individual group counseling, emergency, and on-call services. Provide direct psychological services, including individual, group Participate in multidisciplinary treatment as a care provider and consultant cognizant of inmates' current psychosocial status and needs. Advise and consult with all levels of professional staff concerning psychological characteristics and behavior changes of inmates. Develop and implement programs designed to measure treatment efficacy. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. This position requires the employee to pass a Criminal History Background Check. Candidates under consideration will be required to certify whether they have ever been convicted of such an offense. Required to provide emergency and on-call services. This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Immunization screening is required. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion. A pre-placement medical examination is required and an annual physical thereafter. This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. Employee must possess and maintain a current, unrestricted license as a doctoral level psychologist. Must fulfill credentialing requirements, obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. This position requires the employee to undergo screening for tuberculosis upon appointment and periodic screening thereafter Personnel who enter the Military Correctional Complex consent to inspection of their person and property, including their vehicle, at any time their property or vehicle is within grounds controlled by the Military Correctional Complex. The maximum entry age for positions covered under the special Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) retirement is 37 years old. Individuals must be appointed by the last day of the month in which the individual becomes age 37 IAW The Prison Rape Elimination Act, the MCC may not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with inmates, has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup community conferment facility, juvenile facility, or other institution (42 USC 1997). This position is designated as a Primary LEO and the work requires frequent, direct contact in the detention of inmates convicted of offenses against the punitive articles of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Regularly-assigned contacts with inmates expose the incumbent to daily stress and the threat of potentially dangerous situations such as verbal and/or physical attack by the inmate population. Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist: Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in Clinical Psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below: Experience required: To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes for an inmate or adult population, conducting psycho-diagnostic assessments, providing crisis interventions, and providing psychotherapy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Licensure/Certification: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted. This position has been designated as a primary/rigorous and is eligible for Law Enforcement (LEO) retirement coverage under the provisions of title 5 USC 8336(c) and 8412(d) by DoD memorandum dated 19 August 2010. The maximum entry age for positions covered under this retirement is 37 years old. Retirement from this position is mandatory at age 57 with 20 years of LEO service.
