Among other tasks the clinical pharmacy manager: Promotes staff's clinical development Guides clinical pharmacists' interventions with other health professionals Prepares presentations for a variety of meetings Assigns clinical projects to the pharmacy team Serves as a pharmacy representative in collaboration with representatives from other disciplines and/or departments at a variety of interdepartmental meetings. Provides presentations at select forums for topics relevant to the clinical operations of the pharmacy department. Serves as resource for timely drug information to the clinical pharmacists in the department Works with pharmacy administration and hospital leadership to conceptualize valuable, sustainable clinical pharmacy services. Develops and initiates clinical pharmacy services. Supports and continuously assesses clinical initiatives. Establishes, implements, and maintains impactful team-based rounding. Provides educational programming to pharmacist staff to foster professional development. Pioneers non-formulary medication review and cost-effectiveness analysis. Interfaces with the healthcare team to ensure optimal medication therapy. Heads medication use evaluation activities. Reviews clinical impact of medication errors and provides root cause analysis. Leads continuous quality improvement program. Utilizes computerized order entry system and patient medical record to timely and accurately receive, interpret, review, and process medication orders/prescriptions. Reviews physicians' medication orders with regard to patient specific factors as indicated by department policies, good pharmacy practice, and Joint Commission standards. Provides medication recommendations to providers as needed. Other tasks as assigned by Pharmacy Leadership Team. Qualifications and Role Requirements All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes. Education: BS and/or PharmD from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Residency experience required. PGY2 residency in psychiatry required. Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy or Psychiatry preferred. License: Current unrestricted pharmacy licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts or within 90 days of hire Previous hospital pharmacy experience required. Work schedule: Day Shift, weekdays. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to work independently and handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with other members of hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns. Fosters a team environment. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written).
