Job Details Job Location: DHEC DMOB - Spokane, WA Salary Range: $106,322.70 - $187,659.70 Salary/year Description GENERAL DESCRIPTION The NS leads the advancement of clinical and nursing practice at the micro and macro levels. Clinical judgement and collaboration enhance nursing care and its impact on the unique characteristics of the patient in order to devise a plan of care that ensures advocacy. The incumbent translates evidence to achieve safe, quality, and cost-effective outcomes. The NS leads organizational and system changes using systems thinking to optimize resources and improve outcomes. Additional responsibilities include analyzing and evaluating data to ensure practice is patient-centered, safe, timely, effective, and efficient. The NS also designs strategies and interventions to promote optimization within 3 spheres of impact (patient, nurse and systems). The NS functions as an expert clinician and patient advocate. The NS provides clinical practice and development program management across Pulse outpatient services. In collaboration with operational clinic leaders, the NS supports clinical teams, ensuring evidence-based practice and quality care delivery is maintained across Pulse enterprise outpatient services. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES The NS is an outpatient services enterprise-wide role that ensures delivery of comprehensive, high quality clinical services that meet or exceed established standards of care/practice. The NS is responsible for development, updating, and routine review of applicable clinical practice guidelines, clinical staff competencies, and for supporting the clinical team to ensure clinical team's practice is in accordance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards. Patient Sphere: Design evidence-based, cost effective interventions, including advanced nursing therapies, to meet the multifaceted needs of complex patients. Lead implementation of customized evidence-based advanced nursing interventions. Design and employ educational strategies that consider readiness to learn, individual preferences, and other social determinants of health. Use advanced communication skills in complex situations and difficult conversations. Provide expert consultation based on a broad range of theories and evidence for patients with complex healthcare needs. Evaluate impact of nursing interventions on patient's aggregate outcomes using a scientific approach. Participate in resolution of ethical conflicts in complex patient care situations. Analyze the ethical impact of scientific advances, including cost and clinical effectiveness, on patient and family values and preferences. Advocate for patient's preferences and rights. Lead initiatives to assure patient care services policies are current and evidence-based. Nurses, Nursing Practice, and Clinical Team Practice Sphere: Provide expert specialty consultation to nurses and clinical teams related to complex patient care needs. Promote interventions that prevent the impact of implicit bias on relationship building and outcomes. Advocate for nurses to practice to the full extent of their role in the delivery of healthcare. Lead efforts to resolve ethical conflict and moral distress experienced by nurses and nursing staff. Foster a healthy work environment by exhibiting positive regard, conveying mutual respect, and acknowledging the contributions of others. Employ conflict management and negotiation skills to promote a healthy work environment. Assess the nursing practice environment and processes for improvement opportunities. Use evidence-based knowledge as a foundation for nursing practice to achieve optimal nurse- sensitive outcomes. Mentors nurses, nursing staff, and other outpatient clinical team members in using evidence-based practice principles. Leads clinical teams in the process of planning, implementing, and evaluating change considering intended and unintended consequences. Evaluate the outcomes of nursing practice using methods that provide valid data. Facilitate opportunities for nurses, students, and other staff to acquire knowledge and skills that foster professional development. Engage nurses and clinical teams in reflective practice activities that promote self-awareness and invite peer feedback to improve the practice of nursing and care delivery across the outpatient clinics. Mentor nurses to analyze legislative, regulatory, and fiscal policies that affect nursing practice and patient outcomes. Lead initiatives to assure nursing practice policies and clinical team member policies are current and evidence-based. Organizations/System Sphere: Cultivate a practice environment in which mutual respect, communication, and collaboration contribute to safe, quality outcomes. Use leadership, team building, negotiation, collaboration, and conflict resolution to build partnerships within and across systems and/or communities. Consult with healthcare team members to integrate the needs, preferences, and strengths of a population into the healthcare plan to optimize health outcomes and patient experience within a healthcare system. Lead and participate in systematic quality improvement and safety initiatives based on precise problem/etiology identification, gap analysis, and process evaluation. Provide leadership for the interprofessional team in identifying, developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based practices and research opportunities. Partner with research-focused, doctorally-prepared (i.e., PhD) colleagues to translate, conduct, and disseminate research that addresses gaps and improves clinical knowledge and practice. Lead and participate in the process of selecting, integrating, managing, and evaluating technology and products to promote safety, quality, efficiency, and optimal health outcomes. Lead and facilitate change in response to organizational and community needs in a dynamic healthcare environment. Evaluate system level interventions, programs, and outcomes based on the analysis of information from relevant sources. Demonstrate stewardship of human and fiscal resources in decision-making. Disseminate NS practice and fiscal outcomes to internal stakeholders and the public. Promote nursing's unique contributions to advancing health to stakeholders (e.g., the organization, community, public, and policymakers). Advocate for equitable healthcare by participating in professional organizations and public policy activities. Advocate for ethical principles in protecting the dignity, uniqueness, and safety of all.
