Position Overview: The Clinical Nurse Specialist (Medical/Surgical/Telemetry) serves as an indispensable expert clinician, practicing within a specialized area with profound proficiency in teaching, mentoring, consulting, research, management, and systems enhancement. This pivotal role influences healthcare outcomes by offering expert consultation to all care providers and executing enhancements in healthcare delivery systems.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide expert clinical consultation to multidisciplinary teams, fostering a collaborative approach to patient care.
  2. Mentor and educate nursing staff on best practices, evidence-based interventions, and advancements in critical care.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare providers to develop, implement, and evaluate protocols and policies aimed at optimizing patient outcomes.
  4. Conduct comprehensive assessments and evaluations of patients in critical care settings, guiding treatment plans and interventions.
  5. Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and participation in professional conferences to advance clinical knowledge and practice.
  6. Lead initiatives for quality improvement and risk management, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards and best practices.
  7. Serve as a resource for staff development and training programs, facilitating ongoing professional growth and competency.
  8. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, contributing clinical expertise and insights to enhance patient care coordination.
  9. Actively engage in performance improvement initiatives, utilizing data-driven approaches to enhance clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  10. Maintain current knowledge of emerging trends, technologies, and therapies in critical care nursing, integrating new evidence into practice.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Master's Degree from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC), or Ph.D. from a clinical nurse specialist program accredited by CCNE or NLNAC, or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or currently enrolled in a relevant program.
  2. Washington Registered Nurse License upon hire.
  3. National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
  4. Minimum of 3 years of registered nursing experience in critical care or relevant specialty.
  5. Equivalent coursework and experience will be considered (e.g., Master's in nursing or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a focus on Nursing Administration or Nursing Education).

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Current certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist upon hire.
  2. Current certification in area of specialty upon hire.
  3. 2 years of clinical leadership responsibility.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (4-year program).

Experience:

  • Relevant experience in critical care or related specialty.

Certification and Licensure:

  • PA Registered Nurse License.
  • BLS Instructor Certification (within 12 months of hire).
  • ACLS Certification and instructor is responsible for specialty course program.
  • PALS Certification and Instructor if Responsible for Specialty Course Program.
