Position Information

UCR Health is a team of physicians, specialists and healthcare professionals dedicated to improving the health of inland southern California residents and families by bringing health home to our communities.

This position provides clinical informatics leadership in design and adoption of clinical information systems to support achievement of organization strategic and operational goals in clinical quality, efficiency, and patient experience. Will combine deep knowledge of healthcare operations, patient care workflows, and clinical information systems to achieve optimal design of systems and support of users in achieving these goals. Also supports design of analytic systems, dashboards, and reports and use of data to enhance clinical and operational performance. This role operates at the intersection of physician and provider practice, clinical operations, clinical information systems, data analytics, and user training and support.

The full salary range for the Clinical Informatics Specialist is $96,700 - $184,100 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $140,400.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Education

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and/or equivalent combination of experience/training. (Required)
Certification Requirements
  • Epic Ambulatory (Required)


Experience Requirements
  • 6 - 10 years of related experience. (Required)
  • Professional experience and proven success performing clinical workflows, user interface optimization, clinical decision support, rules development, data integration and mining, clinical ontologies and adoption of technology. (Required)
  • At least 6 year's experience working with clinical informatics systems, electronic health records (EHRs), and other healthcare IT systems commonly used in clinical settings. (Required)
  • Experience leading informatics projects, managing teams, and effectively collaborating with stakeholders across departments. (Preferred)


Minimum Requirements

In-depth knowledge of all relevant clinical informatics software and systems, and of the highly-complex concepts, principles, policies, methodologies, techniques, best practices, regulations, and standards practices involved with patient care and electronic medical data management in the UC health care system. Broadly encompassing or highly in-depth knowledge of 1-2 areas of focus in clinical informatics specialty areas. Knowledge of controlled terminology, clinical workflows, user interface optimization, clinical decision support, rules development, data integration and mining, clinical ontologies and adoption of technology. Advanced organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule. Advanced interpersonal communications skills, to convey highly technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical users in a clear and concise manner, to provide technical support, and to develop and deliver training materials as needed. Advanced ability to serve as a technical leader and information resource, and to work collaboratively with senior staff and management across departments, providing advice, counsel, and analysis on issues of policy, functionality, system efficiency, upgrades, business analytics, and industry advances and trends. Advanced analytical skills and expertise in documentation and reporting, with the ability to apply metrics, design and run queries, collect and analyze performance data, and produce sophisticated reports and analyses for management use. Ability to apply advanced problem-resolution skills to highly complex issues, quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner.
