Clinic Technician Specialist

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE Assists practitioner in assigned Urgent Care and/or specialty clinic(s) in performance of procedures, telephone prescription orders/refills, maintaining patient records and relaying test results. Performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a physician or mid-level practitioner. DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION The Urgent Care teams at Samaritan Health Services treat conditions that require immediate attention but are not considered to be life-threatening or severe enough to be cared for in the hospital emergency department. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS Current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)-Intermediate or Paramedic licensure required. Six (6) months related experience required. Healthcare Provider BLS required. Experience in applicable specialty area preferred. Experience and/or training with medical terminology preferred. Lab/EKG experience preferred. Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred. LCH Urgent Care WI: ACLS required within six (6) months of hire. Ability to recognize symptoms, drug properties and interactions, treatments, and preventive health-care measures within scope of practice. Ability to adjust actions in relation to others and adapt to offer best possible care to patients. Communication - Effective written and oral communication skills to explain complex issues, exchange information between team members, and tactfully discuss issues. Possess the knowledge and skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time. Basic understanding of age-related differences in caring for and/or communicating with patients and caregivers.
