This position is currently eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus for a CMA or $7,500 sign-on bonus for an LPN.

Adair County Health System is looking for a Clinic Nurse (CMA/LPN) to work in our Stuart Clinic. This is a full-time position Tuesday - Friday 8a to 5p. This is a great opportunity to use your current skills and gain some new ones alongside our caring and dedicated team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Demonstrates a current level of knowledge of various payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines.
  • Coordinates on-going patient flow through the clinic process, ensuring efficient and effective continuity (i.e. greeting patients, updating demographic and insurance information, telephone calls.)
  • Reports results and pertinent information to patients and healthcare team members.
  • Assists with patient assessment and treatment by collection of basic data for assigned patients in the clinic and on the telephone.
  • Utilizes professional and tactful communication skills to enhance clinic image.
  • Performs assigned technical and non-technical clinic functions.
  • Evaluates patient and family understanding of treatment plan and/or instructions.
  • Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication skills to enhance clinic image.
  • Assists with a variety of minor procedures, exams and/or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned.
  • Participates in staff development activities and orientation as requested.
  • Maintains appropriate aseptic technique for preparation, procedures, and medications administered.
  • Maintains appropriate patient record documentation of assessment, care, instructions given, telephone conversations, medication refills, etc.
  • Responsible for following instrument and equipment maintenance protocols, identifying of problems, and coordinating repairs.
  • Always maintains confidentiality.
  • Assists with maintaining inventory of lab and nursing supplies and stocking various areas (i.e., exam rooms).
  • Performs laboratory testing (including phlebotomy and a variety of routine and/or automated tests), quality assurance procedures, and maintains records of tests ordered, performed and results received.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of clinic policies and procedures, specimen collection, medical lab techniques, principles and instruments. Principles of anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes. Medical office practices and procedures, office equipment, medical terminology, data entry, health insurance providers rules and regulations.
  • Complies with regulatory agencies (i.e., CLIA, OSHA) in operation of office laboratory.
  • Serves as a mandatory reporter.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current licensure as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) issued by the State of Iowa.
  • CPR certified.
  • Must be able to work independently and have great time management skills.
  • Previous experience working in a medical office.
