Class A CDL Driver Job Summary As our driver you will be responsible for the pick up and delivery of materials and equipment to support our business needs. This includes pumps, machine parts, steel, plate, pipe fabrications and structures, and wheeled/tracked equipment in a variety of truck and trailer combinations. Essential Duties Operate a variety of trucks and trailers. Couple or uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air or electrical lines, or manipulating fifth-wheel locks. Perform and document vehicle / equipment inspections at required intervals to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles. Complete minor truck and trailer maintenance; Coordinate additional maintenance as needed. Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verify instructions and routes. Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy. Maintain DOT required log books. Obtain receipts and signatures for delivered goods. Safely and properly load and secure all loads, or assist with the same. Safely and properly unload all loads, or assist with the same. Communicate with customers and dispatch and management on arrival/departure schedules. Operate a smart phone to take photographs and document time worked per job and other parameters. Predominately Day-trip only within State of Ohio. Rare overnight travel as needed. Skills & Qualifications Must possess a Class A CDL and have a clean driving record. Minimum of 3 years of direct hauling experience. Must be able to be approved for, and maintain eligibility to be on, company insurance. Ability to read and write English, fluently. Customer service oriented. Positive, can-do, team-oriented attitude. Great active listening skills. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Must be dependable and operate with a high-level of integrity. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Other Information This is a non-exempt position. This position reports to the Transportation Supervisor. This position doesn't have any direct reports. Physical Requirements / Working Environment Location is at 1171 Grill Rd. Van Wert, OH 45891 This is a part-time position. This position has regular on-call requirements. Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and work at heights and/or in confined spaces; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. The employee will regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
