Summary:

The Civil Survey Crew Chief will be responsible for safely surveying projects and managing Rodmen/Instrument Operators in the Self-Perform department of Strata Solar. The Crew Chief will utilize GPS surveying equipment, perform staking routines with a team and report on data collected. The ideal candidate has an appreciation for working outdoors, communicates well in a team environment and is adaptable to learning new technology and procedures.


This position is for all solar projects in the United States. Must be willing to travel.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use GPS surveying systems for Civil Self-Perform survey needs, including but not limited to:
  • staking routines
  • as-builts of stockpiles
  • basin volume
  • drone survey
  • Track and report production using alignment files, such as DXF and XML, Surface files, Strata project management tools, and communication with supervisors
  • Maintain production schedule with efficient use of time, equipment and labor
  • Read job plans and understand scope of work
  • Follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and practices.
  • Adhere to all company and industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensure good housekeeping throughout site.
  • Follow proper safety procedures when using heavy equipment and support equipment.
  • Develop and maintain a positive company image, both internally with fellow employees and with customers.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of all company-issued tools and equipment.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • 5+ years of survey experience and/or using GPS survey equipment
  • 3+ years management and/or leadership experience
  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • OSHA 10+ certification
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including company email.
  • Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions to understand simple processes.
  • Basic computer skills, able to use Microsoft Office products and company email.
  • Proper usage and storage of survey equipment, company vehicles, etc.
  • Enthusiasm to participate in continuing education and learn industry advancements
  • Drone pilot and other equipment licenses preferred but not required
  • Demonstrates competence necessary to perform the work.
