MISSION:

The mission of the YMCA of the Foothills is to organize, develop, finance, and conduct programs for an association of persons of all ages that will, by putting Christian principles into practice, enrich the quality of their lives spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Y is looking for the best and brightest to deliver a unique mix of fun, supervision and genuine caring in our childcare areas. The Child Watch Attendant maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals, promotes the potential of all youth, and provides a quality experience to both youth and their families. Child Watch Attendants support the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility while building their career skills and creating lifelong connections.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Set up daily activities, make sure the room is safe before children enter, and report room needs to the designated person.
  1. Manage entry/exit from child watch room.
  1. Maintain required program records as required.
  1. Supervises children ages 3 months to 12 years, program area, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
  1. Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents.
  1. Learn and attend to special needs of children in the child watch center and understand the concerns of parents regarding their children.
  1. Maintain program area and equipment.
  1. Attend scheduled staff meetings and trainings as required.
  1. Performs other job-related duties as requested and necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Child & Infant CPR and First Aid certifications required within 90 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of basic child supervision techniques.
  • Ability to work with and interact with a diverse group of children and parents.
  • All required online trainings must be completed before starting work, which will be compensated for accordingly.
  • Criminal record clearance.
  • Must be able to model the core values; Caring, Respect, Responsibility, and Honesty.
  • Ability to follow and accept instruction and relate well with peers.
  • Must have commitment to the mission and cause of the YMCA and uphold its values and ethics.
  • Ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions.
