Job Description/Summary: The Child Life Clinical Lead provides assistance for the Child Life Manager with both administrative and clinical supervision tasks. This position is responsible for orientation, training, ongoing direct supervision of entry level child life specialists, ensuring a smooth transition into employment for new employees. Oversees and ensures that direct reports complete clinical competencies in a timely manner and provides support for those individuals when applying for clinical advancement. Coordinates with Child Life Specialist 3s, fellow supervisors, and the Child Life Services Manager in the professional development of both individuals and the Child Life Specialists as a group. Provides mentorship, support and education and acts as a clinical resource and a professional role model for Child Life Specialists. Stays abreast of current clinical needs, challenges and dynamics and to offer modeling, clinical relevance and support for other child life specialists. Has the ability to stand in for the Manager of the department as requested and when appropriate. Position Requirements: Minimum Education: degree in child life, education, child development or related field. Minimum Experience: years of experience as a Certified Child Life Specialist in a healthcare setting required. Child life specialist III experience or equivalent professional level preferred. 2 or more years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role preferred. Certification Required: certification as a child life specialist from the Association of Child Life Professionals Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment. Solid organizational and customer service skills to structure unit operations and lead assigned staff in an efficient and effective manner. Advanced clinical skills and knowledge, including current theory, practice and research in child life practice. Solid verbal and written communication skills to explain technical child development concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel. Technical Knowledge: Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Prior experience with electronic medical records preferred. Physical Requirements: Sit: Up to 8 hours/day Stand/Walk: 3-6 hours Bend/Stoop: Up to 3 hours Reach: Up to 3 hours Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 8 hrs Lift/Push/Pull: 15 lbs This job requires the ability to hear alarms clients and/or instruction.
