SUPERVISION: Bearcat Teacher and/or Associate Teacher WORK YEAR: School year calendar Temporary position during non-school days QUALIFICATIONS: Assistant: Must possess 6 ECE units or a Child Development Assistant Permit Aide: High School Diploma Has completed pediatric CPR and First aid training through an accredited or approved program and holds a current pediatric CPR and first aid certificate. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Able to lift 50 pounds, move quickly, bend, squat, kneel, and sit on floor. Awareness of the operating procedures and policies of the Bearcat Discovery Center with the expectation to perform duties with minimal direction or immediate supervision. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists instructional personnel with directing students into safe learning and play activities and functions, and assists in the shaping of appropriate social behaviors. Assists in the management of student behavior through the use of positive reinforcement strategies and techniques. Prepare and assist in the preparation of a variety of instructional materials and learning aids for use with individual or small groups of students. Assists in the maintenance of a variety of records and files, including confidential student records and information. Assists children with toileting and personal hygiene. May assist children with feeding. Assists in maintaining an orderly, attractive and positive learning environment. Participates in parent conferences, as requested.
