The Arc Westchester is the largest organization in Westchester County supporting children, teens, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Headquartered in Hawthorne, NY, the organization has locations in Mount Kisco, Ossining, New Rochelle, Peekskill, Port Chester, White Plains, and Yonkers. FUNDING: The Arc Westchester has a FY 2021 annual operating budget of approximately $53M. Sources of income include Medicaid and Medicare (62%), state funding (10%), other third parties (15%), tuition and early intervention (10%), as well as contributions and restricted program income.

THE OPPORTUNITY: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will lead and direct all aspects of financial management, including budget, revenue, payroll, purchasing, accounting, grants and contracts management, and payment functions for a large, multi-service organization. He/she/they will also manage relationships with bankers and other financial institutions as well as a broad range of funding/regulatory agencies.

The CFO reports to the Executive Director and CEO. Reporting to the CFO is a team that includes the Controller, Facilities Director, and IT Director. The CFO also works closely with the Board, specifically with the Audit and Finance Committees.

The CFO will be innovative, forward-thinking, customer-oriented, and responsive to internal and external changes to best support The Arc Westchester's programs and operations, and to ensure a robust, sustainable future for the agency.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Significant financial leadership experience, ideally in a large, diverse, complex not-for-profit organization.
  • Experience with both public and private funding is critical, preferably in a human service, government, or complex healthcare setting.
  • Knowledgeable about managed care and other financial shifts certain to have major impact on the agency and the field.
  • Understanding of and relationships with regulatory and funding agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.
  • Excellent analytic and accounting skills.
  • Gravitas and credibility to serve as a trusted advisor institution wide.
  • Strong verbal and written skills; an effective communicator at all levels.
  • Commitment to fostering and building a diverse team.
  • A collaborative and flexible style.
  • Strong commitment to customer service, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Strategic ability required to assess and institute new lines of business and/or manage mergers and acquisitions.
  • Experience working with a board of directors and its committees.
  • Able to translate financial information and best practices to non-financial staff.
  • Able to provide strategic direction with an equal attention to detail.

  • Bachelor's degree is required; an MBA and/or CPA is strongly preferred.
