Position Overview

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer will be a valued business partner to the CEO, VP of Operations and Branch Managers while assessing organizational performance against both the annual budget and company's long-term strategy. The successful candidate's strategic foresight and financial acumen will drive Southern Botanical's financial performance, fostering not only stability but ensuring a path to sustainable growth.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team and participate in corporate policy development as well as key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives, operating model, and operational execution.
  • Ensure all members of the accounting team are performing at a high level and supporting the business by providing accurate, timely and insightful information. Be a recognized leader within the company.
  • Lead, manage and develop the Fleet, Facilities, and IT teams to ensure success within cross-functional partnerships and budgets.

Financial Strategy and FP&A

  • Assist the CEO with identifying metrics that drive the business, forecasting, and budgeting, tracking cash flows, managing investments, and allocating capital.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
  • Engage the CEO to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections.
  • Develop and execute analysis of various business initiatives (including opening new operations, asset acquisition, new service launches).
  • Complete analysis of financial results; Develop recommendations (strategic and tactical).
  • Develop and maintain capital budgets.
  • Locate issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery. Report recommendations to the CEO and board to navigate within the outlined goals and objectives.
  • Assist in establishing annual objectives and meeting agendas, selecting, and engaging outside consultants (auditors, investment advisors).
  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and costs management in alignment with company's strategic plan, especially as the organization considers growth goals, potential acquisitions, balancing the team culture of being a client and team first organization.
  • Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed, as well as oversee cash, investment, and asset management.
  • Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.

Accounting Excellence

  • Enhance, implement, and maintain internal controls and financial procedures for 5 entities.
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for executive team.
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports; Monthly profit and loss forecast by branch (vs. budget); Weekly 13-week cash flow forecast.
  • Coordinate audits and proper filing of tax returns.

Technology Innovation and Data Analytics

  • Utilize technology to improve processes and efficiency within all aspects of the financial organization.
  • Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the CEO and make actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations. Works with VP of Operations and Branch Managers, to execute those strategies once adopted by the CEO.
  • Identify enhancements and work with the team to bring them to a successful conclusion.
  • Examine security procedures to ensure all client information, credit card procedures and company assets are protected.
  • Provide analysis of the monthly/ annual results and create reports that help our leadership team and Branch Managers drive the business.
  • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or accounting is required. MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years finance or accounting experience with at least five years' experience as senior level accounting professional of a 100MM or larger entity or CFO of a 25 to 60MM organization.
  • Demonstrated success in driving financial growth and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
