Chief Engineer Job Category: Engineering Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: TS/SCI Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Continental US CACI is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Chief Engineer to support the EW/ISR Integrated Mission Solutions (IMS) Program. The Chief Engineer provides engineering leadership and technical vision to a team of systems, software, electrical, network, cyber, and integration engineers to assist the Program Manager in building a system of systems design and architecture to support the our customer's current and future needs for Multi-INT Distributed Operations and Counter ISR&T. The Chief Engineer will also assist the Program Manager in responding to Requests for Information, Requests for Proposals, and in engaging with the customer to shape future opportunities for the program. What You'll Get to Do: As a forward-thinking, technically minded Chief Engineer, you will lead and provide a vision as well as direction to a team of Software, Test, DevOps, and Systems Engineers. The Chief Engineer will lead critical thinking activities relative to system-of-systems designs, integration planning, user-centered design process, implementation/deployment, and process improvement activities across several disciplines including system engineering, software development, configuration management, reporting software build and delivery, risk management, quality assurance, and customer engagement. The Chief Engineer applies systems engineering principles throughout the systems life cycle phases: User Need / Requirements Analysis, Conceptualization, Engineering and Development, Production and Deployment, Operations and Support, and Sunset. This individual will interact with the Government regarding Systems Engineering technical considerations, deriving requirements, leading and participating in technical exchange meetings, and for associated anomalies of systems that we deliver to the warfighter. Communicates with other program personnel, government overseers, senior engineers, and partners. Responsibility for the technical integrity, quality, and completeness of work performed across the portfolio. A large portion of the IMS program involves development of software capabilities which must interact with internal and external components, many of which are developed by 3rd parties. The Chief Engineer must ensure IMS products maintain compatibility with relevant systems and are optimized for interoperable, time-sensitive missions. Guide and drive technical collaboration and unification across the projects within the program portfolio
Ensure sound engineering practices and principles are adhered to across the program portfolio
Responsible for the program's technology roadmap
Guide and assist the PM/APM with technical collaboration and coordination with other programs within the division and operating group.
Assist in developing a new or innovative approach to a technical or engineering issues
Assist in conducting a technical evaluations to determine suitability for project implementation
Analyze and propose appropriate engineering standards and processes for a project
Coordinate the technical approach for projects within the portfolio with interdependencies and/or identify efficient collaborative approaches to ensure sound technical outcomes are achieved
Lead systems engineering activities for the program, to include providing guidance to project teams throughout the systems engineering phases
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in Engineering Process
Brief stakeholders and present the status on all technical aspects of their project
Make decisions regarding engineering issues and methodology for a project
Plan and develop engineering projects with unique or complex aspects that impact major capabilities of high priority to the program. You'll Bring These Qualifications: Current TS/SCI clearance
A Bachelor's degree in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related STEM discipline from an accredited college or university plus ten (10) years of systems engineering experience. OR
A High School Diploma or GED plus fifteen (15) years of general systems engineering experience. OR
A Master's degree in Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus seven (7) years of systems engineering experience. OR
A PhD in a Qualified Engineering Field or a related discipline from an accredited college or university plus seven (7) years of systems engineering experience.
Proven Engineering Leadership Capabilities
Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle and software APIs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Detailed-orientated individual These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: Experience with Internet of Things (IoT) projects or system interoperability at scale
Deep knowledge of the government Joint Interface Control Document family of specifications
Experience working on DoD projects and programs
INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional Certification (CSEP) or Expert Systems Engineering Professional certification desired.
