Position: Chief Advancement Officer
Reports to: Head of School
Classification: Full time, Salaried, Exempt
The Chief Advancement Officer will provide leadership and strategic direction in all of the school's advancement efforts, including development, planned giving, external relations, and advancement communications. The Chief Advancement Officer works closely with the Head of School and the School Board to foster a strong culture of philanthropy throughout all school constituencies and will report to the Head of School as an integral member of The King's Academy senior leadership team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees strategic plans that ensure the financial stability and advancement of The King's Academy with a focus on sustainability.
- Oversees short and long-term fiscal forecasting based on revenue streams, expected expenditures, and TKA's mission.
- Develops and implements both annual and major giving plans to successfully meet established fundraising goals and objectives.
- Provides leadership to the development team providing strategies and achieving goals in both annual and major giving.
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors and prospects to grow, strengthen, and nurture the donor base.
- Maintains a portfolio of leadership donors.
- Identifies and attracts corporate and foundation donors and prospects.
- Oversees donor and prospect management systems.
- Oversees gift processing by ensuring policies, systems, and procedures built on ethical standards for soliciting and reporting.
- Develops and manages the annual fundraising budget and work plan, tracks and reports results to the Head of School and the Board of Directors.
- Models a leadership style that is open, supportive, collaborative, and respectful of all TKA staff.
- Monitors, participates in, and adheres to best practices in philanthropy and communications.
- Attends TKA events, activities and fosters significant pride and excitement for fundraising efforts.
- In general, be a vocal and public presence among the TKA community as it relates to the school's annual giving opportunities. This includes both formal and informal settings.
- Nurtures and maintains a highly collaborative relationship with the Head of School, and members of the School Board, supporting them in all their fundraising activities and responsibilities.
- Collaborates with the Head of School on strategic initiatives to produce an aligned, mission-driven messages to promote and enhance the school's visibility and reputation, as well as generate fundraising opportunities.
- Oversees the development of relationships with other institutions, foundations, and organizations.
- Performs other development duties as assigned by the Head of School.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Minimum of five years of nonprofit development experience
- Trained with knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the successful performance of the essential job duties
- Highly professional in demeanor
- Strong interpersonal skills

- Strong public speaking skills
- Well versed in Excel, Word, and donor software
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to respect the importance of confidentiality and trust as it relates to donor information
Physical, Mental Requirements and Work Environment:
- Regularly sitting at the computer requiring repetitive finger motion and manual dexterity
- Up to several hours of walking and standing during events
- Subject to working more than required hours during certain events
- Ability to manage multiple coinciding projects
- Close visual acuity required for viewing a computer monitor, preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and reading
- Hearing ability to perceive sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction
- Talking expressing ideas by means of the spoken word to communicate with donors, staff, and volunteers
- Ability to communicate effectively, even in stressful situations
- Professional appearance and dress required, as this person is often the host of TKA-wide meetings and events - primarily inside, office environment with the exception of hosting or attending a few outside events throughout the year
- Occasional lifting of 5 to 25 pounds
