Vacancy: Chemist I Location: Royston, UK Job Family: R&D As the Chemist I, you willl carry out experimental trials and interpret results as part of the team developing new PGM refining processes for the PGMS business unit as well as providing primary support to the PGMS pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical refining processes and further support, if required, to other areas of the business as the need arises. Your responsibilities: Carrying out development trials to provide support to the refining operations either independently or as part of a team Upholding high EHS standards at all times including completion of appropriate risk assessments Proposing innovative and practical solutions to overcome challenges as they arise Processing and interpreting results from trials in order to determine progress and next steps Compile informative and engaging reports and presentations of experimental work Developing expertise in precious metal chemistry and growing knowledge by familiarisation with the refining plants and regularly reviewing new techniques and literature Requirements for the role: MSc / BSc (or equivalent) in Chemistry or related discipline Experience of EHS documents such as COSHH, manual handling Ability to propose innovative and practical solutions to overcome challenges. Experience with statistical experimental methods (e.g. Design of Experiments) Previous experience of precious metal chemistry in aqueous media Strong communication skills, both verbal and written How you will be rewarded: We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package including bonus, excellent pension contributions and 25 days annual leave (varies for shift-based roles).
