Chemistry lab technicians assist chemists in their lab work. As time progresses, lab technicians are completing a greater number of tasks that previously would have been performed by highly trained chemists. Technicians are responsible for monitoring chemical processes and testing products as part of quality assurance. Under the supervision of chemists and other team members, they perform repetitive lab activities, such as setting up lab equipment and preparing chemical solutions. They also conduct tests, interpret and analyze data, compile results, prepare reports, and present their conclusions.

This role is for the Architectural Coatings Technical Service lab. Job expectations are as follows:

" Work on projects in the applications lab to evaluate dispersions, additives, and/or pigments in paint or colorant formulations to support internal and external customers as well as support product volume growth.

" Work with Chemists, Technical Specialists and other lab members to complete application testing and generate accurate data in a timely manner.

" The individual will need to be able to:

o Perform experiments following instructions set by the project requestor

o Make keen observations and be cognizant of opportunities

o Adjust experimentation and problem solve as needed

o Must be able to record and organize data

o Manage multiple projects at once

o Report results in a coherent and understandable manner

" Acquire a working knowledge of formulation practices and of application test methods typical for the architectural coatings industries.

" Perform lab activities required to maintain ISO, 5S, and safety compliance.

" Follow all policies and procedures in the performance of job activities.

Additional Description

Manager is looking for someone with good attention to detail, excellent time management, experience with coatings or color matching would be preferrable.

Experience requirements are below:

" Bachelor's degree in a chemistry related field and 1+ years practical laboratory experience OR associate's degree in a chemistry related field and 3+ years practical laboratory experience in a chemical related field OR High School Diploma and 5+ years practical laboratory experience in a chemical related field

" Intermediate computer skills and proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel.
