Responsibilities The Journeys and Adventures that Await. Abstracts cancer cases accurately in a timely and productive manner. Proficient in coding histology/morphology and grade per cancer site and type by the most current manuals Skilled in understanding date of first contact rules by the most updated guidelines. Able to identify appropriate Class of case by facility involvement in the diagnosis, care, and management. Performs work according to established policies and procedures and completes work within requested time frames. Abstract data adhering to institutional guidelines which are used internally and to maintain compliance with state reporting and accreditation requirements. At least five patient records per day (8 hr./d) must be abstracted with extended data field/text notes and entered into the computer and edit checked successfully in order to achieve the minimum standard with quality of abstracting score 90% or better. Retrieve radiation therapy and systemic treatment info efficiently from within the system to complete the abstract for cases with multi-modality treatment protocols. Process case-finding based on most recent reportable malignancy rules. Familiar with NCCN clinical pathways Documents accurately AJCC staging information by physician and populate data fields by c and p staging rules. Must collect and complete all applicable treatment information and fill text fields within the abstract with regards to sequencing and timeline meeting Commission on Cancer - RCRS quality measures. Complete follow up on cases with most current cancer status limiting string of 9 Demonstrates competence in use of Cancer Registry, Laboratory and Information system software as required for departmental use. Participates in quality audit process Qualifications The Experiences You Bring CTR certified. Must be in good standing with the National Cancer Registrars Association credentialing institution.
