Position Overview: General Leonard Wood Army Hospital is seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a CRNA you will play a crucial role in providing safe and effective anesthesia care to our military personnel and their families. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our service members and support the overall mission of General Leonard Wood Army Hospital.

Responsibilities:

  1. Surgical Anesthesia: Administer anesthesia for a variety of surgeries, ranging from simple to complex procedures, including pediatric surgery, general surgery, OB/GYN, orthopedics, oral maxillofacial surgery, etc.
  2. Patient Evaluation: Evaluate patients' physical and mental status concerning anesthesia, consulting with surgeons if necessary to determine the appropriate anesthetic course of action.
  3. Communication with Patients: Discuss the type of anesthesia to be used, explain expected outcomes, and communicate potential complications to patients.
  4. Anesthetic Techniques: Determine and apply appropriate techniques, drugs, and equipment for anesthesia administration, including inhalation, endotracheal intubation, intravenous, hypobaric and hyperbaric subarachnoid block, epidural, and various regional techniques.
  5. Monitoring and Adjustments: Perform invasive monitoring techniques, administer vasopressor and hypotensive drugs as needed, and adjust the level of administration of anesthetic agents and adjunctive drugs to support patients' respiratory, circulatory, and renal functions.
  6. Post-Anesthetic Care: Provide immediate postanesthetic care, ensuring patient airway, fluid volume, urinary output, and freedom from shock or adverse reactions during transport and recovery.
  7. Emergency Response: Initiate appropriate measures, including resuscitative measures, in emergency situations when a physician is not immediately available.
  8. Equipment Management: Assume responsibility for the care, sanitation, and inspection of equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  9. Quality Assurance: Cooperate with the anesthesia Quality Assurance Committee to maintain or improve the quality of care within the Department of Anesthesia.
  10. On-Call Responsibilities: As the assigned on-call provider, manage two ORs and the labor deck on a rotating basis.
  11. Documentation: Complete medical records, forms, and documents within specified time limits. Check GLWACH email daily for official communication.
  12. Training and Compliance: Attend and complete all required training prescribed by GLWACH. Remain in-house for specific cases, such as running epidurals or patients attempting a Trial of Labor after Caesarean (TOLAC).
  13. Post-Operative Evaluations: Perform post-operative evaluations on every patient who had a procedure before discharge.
