Richmond Behavioral Health has a full time position available for a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist to perform intermediate skilled human support work as part of the Permanent Supportive Housing team. Duties may include assessment of client needs and providing access to needed and appropriate services including treatment, rehabilitation and service linkage, case monitoring and client advocacy functions, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned Program Supervisor. The majority of the work of the Certified Peer Recovery Specialist PSH is completed in the community.

Essential Functions

Works in collaboration with Permanent Supportive Housing Team (PSH) to ensure housing stability of program participants.

Collaborate with clinical staff on a regular basis regarding program participants.

Collaborate with housing specialist on a regular basis regarding program participants.

Facilitates peer run groups including WRAP, WHAM, and other peer run groups, as appropriate.

Develops wellness recovery action plan with consumers, with a focus on housing; develops a plan of care appropriate to the evaluation with the client/family consensus; assists clients in developing recovery goals.

Monitors and assesses clients mental health status; provides peer appropriate supportive counseling as needed.

Arranges and provides transportation for clients to appointments, grocery stores, offices, etc; takes clients on social outings.

Provides documentation of services; provides group notes; maintains medical records.

Attends training and team meetings as required.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED with coursework in social work, psychology, mental health, or related field

CPRS in the State of Virginia preferred.

Experience working with those with a history of homelessness preferred.

Moderate experience working with adults in a mental health setting.

Special Requirements

Valid driver's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Qualifying staff will be eligible for a $1K sign-on bonus as defined by the terms and conditions of the approved sign-on bonus policy.
