Certified Nursing Assistant.5 FTE at Dorena4 Hours Job Goal: To provide for the immediate needs of the students and to work under the supervision of the school nurse to see that medical aid is provided when necessary, and to see that health records are kept. Reports to: The SLSD School Nurse, School Principal, and Director of Student and Special Education Services Essential Functions: Administers first aid to injured students and provides short-term care to enhance the comfort and safety of injured or ill students Administers and records medications in accordance with District policy. Consults references or the Director of Health Services to ensure a working understanding of medications that are administered Takes and records vital signs. Administers vision screenings and other screenings, as directed. Maintains computerized listings of immunizations, chronic health conditions, daily visits and health screenings for each student. Completes state reports on immunization and vision screenings May be required to perform specialized procedures, after proper training, such as urinary catheterization, gastric tube feedings, diabetes management, and seizure disorder management Facilitates sending ill or injured student's home or to appropriate facilities May accompany students to outdoor school and meet the health needs of students under somewhat primitive conditions Maintains a clean, organized health office Exhibits patience, courtesy and tact when dealing with students, parents and the community Exhibits empathy when caring for disabled persons and injured/ill students Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications: Certification as a CMA or CNA (Certified Medical or Nursing Assistant) Completion of approved course in first aid Certification I Health Care Provider CPR Interest in and an understanding of children and adolescents Respect for confidentiality of information Ability to accept and utilize nursing supervision and consultation Typing and computer skills preferred Application Procedure Applications are completed online at: South Lane School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, parental or marital status, age, veterans' status or genetic information.
