General Summary The Central Supply Technician is responsible for the individual line item distribution of and appropriate charging for medical supplies to include Durable Medical Equipment (DME) to all nursing units and ancillary clinical departments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintains inventory records for Central Service and all floor stocks. Posts to MMIS all supplies received, transferred, issued, returned and patient charges in response to inventory level restocks and supply/equipment requisitions. Updates Clinical Team Leader or Manager of any stock outs. Takes physical inventory counts in Central Service, in accordance with department policy, to verify inventory records and to correct discrepancies. Unpacks and stocks Central Service department shelves daily as supplies are received. Creates system-generated patient charge bar code labels and tags appropriate supplies during restock process. Rotates stock to ensure outdates are minimized. Maintains carts in clean and orderly manner at all times. Takes physical inventory counts on all floor stocks, in accordance with department policy, to maintain adequate supplies available for clinical use. Replenish stocks as needed. Rotates stock to ensure outdates are minimized. Maintains carts in clean and orderly manner at all times. Enters patient charges daily completing the process in the allotted timeframe. Delivers, returns, clean and maintains all DME daily as requests occur. Rotates crash cart stock to avoid outdates, restock items used as necessary and charge for used supplies. Job Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Work Experience Applicable experience preferred but not required. Certification/License Certified Central Supply Technician (CRCST) suggested within 18 months of employment. Mental/Physical Requirements Work can be moderately stressful, requiring periods of concentrated effort. Requires the visual acuity sufficient to read and prepare delivery tickets, labels and maintain inventory records. the physical ability to stoop, bend, and transport self, carts, and medical equipment through hospital at least 50% of the shift. Must be able to lift 35lbs. Working Conditions Work is performed primarily in well-lighted, temperature controlled environment. Noise levels are usually light.
