Title: Part-time CDL Training Instructor Department: CDL - 3010 Supervisor: Director of Workforce and Advancement Pay Grade: PT Faculty Rate Revision Date: 2/13/2024 Location: Academic Technical Center Approved by: President Position Summary: The part-time CDL Training Instructor performs duties related to delivering the appropriate instructional program as set forth by the Belmont College Truck Driver Training Program, in a learner centered environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential. This position requires strong training skills, and calls for flexibility, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with all levels of staff, as well as outside clients. This position will be as-needed, and will conduct training as additional evening classes are scheduled. Specific Responsibilities: Responsible for training inexperienced drivers/students in road operation, maneuvering skills, and pre-trip inspection in preparation for the CDL examinations and to enter the transportation industry as a safe and proficient entry-level CDL driver. Recording daily attendance, skills demonstrations, driver instruction, student skill evaluations, end of training day verbal explanation of strengths and weaknesses, daily grading in all phases of tractor trailer operation to include pre trip and post trip vehicle inspections. Occasional weekend work for student testing. Participate in Belmont College and State of Ohio sponsored training as required. Adhere to the policies and procedures of Belmont College. Know and understand the Belmont Code of Conduct for students, FERPA and other student policies. Other duties as assigned. Possess a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License. Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record determined by our training manager. Pass a DOT Medical Examination. Pass a Pre-Employment Drug Screen and Random Drug Screens after Hire Pass a BCI and FBI Criminal Background Check Via State and Federal Fingerprint Review High School Diploma or equivalent Possess a State of Ohio CDL Driver Training Instructor License. Successfully complete the Ohio Department of Public Safety's On-line Sexual Harassment Training.
