Secondary transport duties include operating semi-roll-off and van body equipment. CDL Drivers will have the opportunity to operate a variety of equipment, including vacuum tankers, vacuum trucks, vans, and flatbeds. Responsibilities: Drive a truck and operate specialized pump equipment on the vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials. Prepare customer delivery tickets specific to the product delivered and obtain customer signatures. Complete accurate electronic Driver Logs daily. Document record of materials and products transported. Maintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, and shipping manifests according to state and federal regulations. Communicate, verbally and electronically, with dispatch regarding delivery instructions. Interpret maps and follow written and verbal geographic directions. Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water. Secure cargo prior to and during transit. Ensure elite standard of all operating equipment including but not limited to the inside cab, outside cab, outside tanks, hoses, trays, fittings, and all other ancillary parts. Complete additional assigned duties. Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred Covanta offers GED Works - a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED. Must be 21 years or older, due to interstate travel in a commercial vehicle and federal regulations. Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. Tanker endorsement preferred but not required. HAZMAT endorsement is a plus Minimum 2+ years of driving experience. Has not received any disqualifications to drive a commercial motor vehicle according to the provisions of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, 391.15. Abide by standard DOT regulations at all times. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be responsible, well organized, and exhibit great safety awareness (identity and correct conditions that affect employee and client safety).
