CDL- A Truck Driver

Description SUMMARY: The Truck Driver will transport oversized loads from the Manufacturing Site to job sites in a safe and timely manner. Preparing and securing oversized loads for shipping with all safety and company guidelines. Loads and unloads materials manually or mechanically by following company delivery guidelines. POSITION: CDL-A TRUCK DRIVER DEPARTMENT: Shipping and Receiving Department REPORTS TO: Dispatch Supervisor HOURS: M-F, 7 AM-3:30 PM, with availability to 5:00 pm. Occasional Overtime (may Include Saturday's) WORK AUTHORIZATION: US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident) COMPETENCIES: Teamwork. Organizational Skills. Quality Focus. Communication Proficiency. Physical enough for the job Time Management. Safe Driving. Decision Making. Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Safely drives a commercial vehicle in compliance with all DOT regulations. Conducts a pre-trip and post-trip inspection per DOT guidelines. Straps standard and oversize loads in a safe manner and within DOT guidelines. Drive, deliver, and unload products to construction sites, including occasional out-of-state deliveries Maintains truck log per state and federal regulations as assigned. Verifies load against shipping paperwork. Actively loads and unloads truck manually or with equipment including Forklift, Pallet Jack, and Specialized roll off truss and wall panel trailers. Drive Escort Vehicles as assigned. Maintains telephone or radio contact with the supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Performs regular and emergency roadside repairs such as installing light bulbs & fuses. Communicate problems, concerns, and ideas to management. Identify process improvements. Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly commercial vehicle. Participate in all assigned training programs and adhere to all company policies and procedures. Maintain excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Responsibilities may include Yard Duties as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EDUCATION: Clean CDL Class A New York State Driver's License. High School Diploma/GED equivalent preferred. Must be able to obtain a New York State Vehicle Escort Certificate. Must be able to present a current DOT Medical Certificate. Must be able to Pass a required Drug and Alcohol Screen. Knowledge of Rochester and Surrounding Areas Roads and Highways. Employees must be reliable, punctual, and safety-minded, with a strong work ethic. Employees Must display a positive, helpful demeanor, and a commitment to providing the best in customer service. Basic math and reading skills to perform job tasks and complete necessary paperwork. Knowledge of and ability to operate a forklift. (Willing to train) Physically demanding job that requires being able to sit and stand for the duration of assigned shift. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2-Year Verified CDL- A Driving Experience. Oversize Load Experience a Plus. Building Material Distribution or Construction Experience a Plus. SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. WORKING CONDITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and vibration.
