Employment Type: Full time Shift: Description: Position Purpose: Under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Cardiac Cath Lab Technician is responsible for obtaining and analyzing pertinent patient data and assisting with diagnostic and interventional procedures performed in the cath lab/EP lab. This position requires self direction, critical thinking, good communication skills, and the ability to perform within a team with excellent time management skills. Adheres to MercyOne's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of MercyOne. What you will Do: Provides direct patient care activities in the cath lab. Performs indirect patient care activities to maintain department standards. Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures Based on principles of growth and development, provides care appropriate to the age related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit which may include: 18-65 Yrs: Adults 65+ Yrs: Geriatrics Hours/Schedule: Full Time, 40 Hours Per Week 7 am to 3:30 pm 8 hour shifts Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of an approved school of radiological technology with current registry by the ARRT. Must have valid Iowa permit to practice. Registered Technologist (Radiography) by ARRT or Certification as a Cardiac Interventional Technician (CI) required. Current BLS certification. ACLS required. Mandatory reporter. Minimum 2 years experience in Cath Lab or angiography special procedures lab. Intermediate language, high math, high reasoning ability. Personal computer, database software and additional computerized patient care tools or demonstrated ability to learn. Ability to work with diverse groups of people; ability to work under pressure and with a large degree of independence. Critical thinking skills, ability to perform within a team and good time management skills. Strong knowledge base in cardiac anatomy, physiology and Cardiac care. Must be able to analyze and interpret basic EKG tracings. Knowledge of cardiac medications, hemodynamic monitoring and fundamentals of sterile technique.
