Job Summary:

The Carpenter, Machine Room is based at the Mt. Airy, NC manufacturing plant, with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for constructing, assembling, and ensuring the quality of wooden structures through precise measurement, cutting, and assembly techniques, while adhering to safety and production standards and meeting customer specifications. This position reports directly to the Manager, Plant (or Supervisor, Plant) and does not have direct reports.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Operates woodworking machinery.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates a range of woodworking machines such as tiger saws, double cut, SCM/panel saws, truss presses, table saws, planers, miter saws, routers, sanders, and other power tools in the machine room.
  • Cuts, shapes, and sizes lumber or other materials according to specifications using the machinery and tools available.
  • Ensures the accuracy and precision of cuts, shapes, and dimensions, maintaining high-quality standards in the finished products.
  • Performs routine maintenance on machinery, including cleaning, lubrication, and blade changes.
  • Identifies and troubleshoots any issues with the machines and makes necessary adjustments or repairs.
  • Maintains an inventory of materials and supplies necessary for machine room operations.
  • Notifies supervisors when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and maintains a clean workspace.
  • Keeps accurate records of machine maintenance, repairs, and any incidents or accidents that occur in the machine room.
  • Stays updated on new woodworking machinery, tools, and techniques.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains within the machine room.
  • Assists in other duties within the carpentry manufacturing plant, including the following:
  • Erector/Siding.
  • Electrical.
  • Flooring.
  • Framing.
  • Painting/Trim.
  • Press/Rafting.
  • Ramps/Accessories.
  • Roofing.
  • Small Structures.
  • Trusses.

Requirements

  • Must be able to PASS drug screen.

Education/Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
