Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Low Voltage Cabling Technician to join our team, specializing in the installation, testing and maintenance of structured cabling system components within our data center infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with fiber and copper cabling systems along with a strong understanding of cable terminations and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Install and test fiber optic and copper cabling systems according to industry standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic and copper cabling system installations, including but not limited to fiber cable scoping, wet/dry cleaning MPO and LC fiber, recognizing and correcting mis-ported cables in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all fiber and copper cable system installations, configurations and changes.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working in data center environments, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior technicians on cable installation techniques and best practices.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in low voltage cabling systems.
  • Proficiency in fiber optic cable termination methods, including fusion and mechanical splicing.
  • Strong knowledge of structured cabling and cable conveyance systems.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard cable test equipment such as Fluke, Viavi, etc.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations governing fiber optic and copper cable installations, such as ANSI/TIA-568 and ANSI/TIA-569.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality in all work performed.
  • Certifications such as FOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician) or equivalent are preferred but not required.
