Job Description

The Water Business Unit(BU)Controller is responsible for the accounting for the Water business unit and report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer and work closely withtheWater Finance team, including VP Moen Americas Finance, VP House of Rohl Finance,and VP Operations Finance. Therolewill ensure that internal controls are in place across the organization and operating effectively. Thisleaderwill recruit and build a highly energized,skilled,and goal-oriented team focused on driving improvements,internal controls,and business processes.

The WaterBUController will need to partner with the business to determine accounting implications of new business strategies and integration of acquisitions. The WaterBUController is responsible for the accounting teams in North Olmsted, Ohio, UK,and Mexico. The WaterBUController will also closely collaborate with theControllers of Outdoors, Security and Corporate.

Position location:This role is designated as a hybrid role which includes working at least 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in our office located in North Olmsted, OH to foster better collaboration, connection, and innovation.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Direct and oversee all aspects of the controls and accounting functions for the global Water business unit.
  • Managemonthly,quarterly,and year-end GAAP and statutory reporting and required SEC disclosures.
  • Be a strategic partner with the business collaborating on the accounting for new business strategies.
  • Oversee company-wide month-end closing procedures,activitiesand timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and Fortune Brands Accounting Policies
  • Work with internal and external audits as required and function as the key liaison including implementation of recommendations.
  • Maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with all necessary accounting rules and policies.
  • Provide leadership and support as required inmergerand acquisitions, strategic alliances,partnershipsand othergrowth-relatedinitiatives.
  • Maintain technical expertise by staying abreast of both newly issued and emerging accounting pronouncements.
  • Ensure all transactions, assets and liabilities are properly stated.
  • Establishstrong lines of communication from the international businesses to headquarters and leveraging off the strengths of the organization by fully utilizing available global resources.
  • Ensure teams meet statutory filing deadlines and provide support as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Work closely with the business on accounting for new revenue streams.
  • Work closely withtheFinance Transformation team on new EPM implementation for Fortune Brands. Redesign current processes to gainefficienciesand better reporting fromtheEPM tool.
  • Redesign current processes to streamline month-end close without risking internal controls compliance or financial accuracy.
  • Align accounting responsibilities within the Water business under the controllership function.
  • Recruit,train,coach,and develop professional staff for improved performance and future advancement in the company.


Qualifications

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 12 years of broad financial experience and leadership where strong controls, financial integrity, business complexity, international growth, customer relationships, and efficient operations were keys to success.
  • 5+ years of management experience required.
  • Experience implementing both top-level, strategic solutions as well as the day-to-day actions that are necessary for establishing a best in class organization.
  • Strong business leadership skills with a drive for results focus.
  • Possess the highest of ethical standards and the ability to establish productive and credible connections across the business.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to lead others around a common vision and build ideas to achieve positive business results while maintaining strong values of dignity, respect,trustand honesty.
  • Collaborative member of the Finance Leadership Team who must understand and accept the responsibility of organizational accountability.
  • Excellent manager of people - able to strike an appropriate balance between empowerment,delegationand hands-on involvement, and able to build and direct a capable team.
  • Capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously and promptly and of foreseeing and addressing issues before they become significant obstacles.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A CPA is strongly preferred and experience in public accounting is a plus.
  • Global financial experience is preferred.
