The General Manager has P&L responsibility for a retail start-up operation in Puerto Rico. As our GM, your responsibilities will include leadership and direction on commercial efforts, operations & order fulfillment, distribution and delivery and market-strategic development. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a dynamic and growing organization.

We need a proven leader who will be responsible for day-to-day management of staff, including sales, operations, logistics, administrative/clerical, quality, and maintenance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership and management for operations, logistics, administrative/clerical, maintenance, quality, and sales.
  • Drives customer excellence primarily through inside and outside sales teams. Cultivates and maintains key customer, vendor, and supplier relationships. Develops the commercial sales and pricing strategy for responsible market(s). Ensures human resources are allocated effectively. Responsible for achievement of the annual plan by defining the best product mix and optimum blend of transactional vs contract business.
  • Drives operational excellence through operations management; balances customer fulfillment needs with operational capabilities and inventory.
  • Drives leadership excellence by providing training and growth opportunities to the branch team members. Responsible for identifying succession planning gaps and developing internal talent or acquiring external talent to ensure business continuity.
  • Influences safety excellence and improvement by modeling appropriate behaviors and by ensuring regular training and awareness efforts.
  • Partners with procurement efforts (to the extent not managed centrally by master agreement) and ensures optimum levels of inventory.
  • Partners effectively with corporate functions to implement enterprise initiatives.
  • Participates in monthly/quarterly business and financial reviews.
  • Develops strategic relationships across markets and regions. Demands and models the sharing of best practices across markets.
  • Develops and implements branch SOP to align local strategies with Regional and Corporate objectives.
  • Other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4-year college degree preferred or 5 years of General Manager experience.
  • Knowledge of retail commerce, applicable product groups, and customer processes and applications highly preferred.
  • Proven sales effectiveness and demonstrated customer interfacing skills.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications (i.e. MS Office applications).


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office and retail environment.
  • Attend customer and association meetings as necessary.
  • 50% travel with occasional overnight travel mostly within assigned region
