About the Role:

Job Summary

The Business Development Specialists (BDS) responsibilities include providing strategic insight and planning for regional growth and development for the entire health system. Primary duties are to grow referral volumes from the 19 county region with emphasis on customer satisfaction, retention and growth using statistical analysis to identify possible referrals. (Customers include physicians, hospital administrators, EMS and any other entity responsible for directing patients to NGHS for health care). BDS act as a liaison between the NGHS and regional medical providers, providing opportunities for specialists and service line staff to explain services and offer expertise in new and developing medical technologies and procedures. BDS is also responsible for "closing the loop" between issues and resolutions, utilizing the most appropriate clinical/operations personnel to help facilitate those resolutions in the most efficient manner. BDS may be the primary contact between the region and NGHS. The ultimate goal is generation of revenue and increased ROI.



Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Licensure or other certifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences.

  • Minimum Experience: Two (2) or more years in healthcare related field. Experience in field sales/marketing/outreach and/or provider/customer relations. Experience preferred in promoting Cardiac, Neuroscience, Orthopedic and other comprehensive health care service lines to health care professionals and organizations.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Identifies opportunities for strategic alliance among hospitals, large medical groups, specialists and individual physicians. Evaluate practice affiliation and/or acquisition options to expand networks and increase alignment. BDS will integrate the use of Marketware information in decision making process.

  • Provides detailed territory analysis to identify strategic growth opportunities within their assigned geographic area. He/she will be keenly aware of both medical/clinical opportunities as well as regional sensitivities to NGHS presence within the community. The BDS will provide Senior Management with competitive market intelligence to identify vulnerable regional markets as well as identify competitive threats to NGHS through the Executive Director of Strategic Development or independently as directed.

  • BDS is an integral part of developing and supporting NGPG Specialists ("owning" the account). He/she will help to ensure a smooth transition into NGHS with development plans to acquire and grow market share over the course of the first year and as needed. BDS will work closely with Administrative Directors, Practice Managers, and PR to help physicians reach their volume goals. BDS will support and coach new specialist the first year of practice to assist in referral development and the success of their practice.

  • Identifies and facilitates development of educational/clinical programs for regional referral sources to include hospitals, physician practices and other health related entities to support and offer best practices to enhance existing referral base. Works closely with those facilities to increase the quality of care given to any patient within the entire northeast Georgia region.

  • Works closely with Health Information Exchange to ensure contact with key decision makers in the region regarding implementing and supporting the HIE program and initiatives. BDS will report regularly to the Executive Director and Senior Management milestones and obstacles.

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for all core service lines between regional accounts (providers and facilities) and NGHS. BDS inform and educate regional providers about the services offered at NGHS, NGMC and NGPG. Specialists is also be responsible for providing problem resolution when necessary.

  • Identifies problems and providing complete customer satisfaction by working closely with the appropriate service line leaders, thought leaders and other clinical experts who can facilitate resolution.

  • Consistently applies LEAN principles to improve processes, develop standard work and possess a strong ability to work across the matrix of the organization. Specialist utilizes planning and problem solving skills learned thru LEAN principles and leadership development.

  • Identifies regional opportunities for NGHS clinical personal with outreach responsibilities. BDS works closely with coordinators to help establish relationships with key offices and contacts within the region and helps to identify outreach opportunities within the targeted communities they serve. BDS will serve as mentors to other outreach or service line representatives at NGHS.
