Job Description This position will support the Systems Development Group in Kratos SRE (KSRE) in Birmingham, Alabama. KSRE is a business unit under the Defense and Rocket Support Services Division. Primary responsibilities for the successful candidate will be business development activities related to EO/IR systems, specialty pods, stabilized gimbals, RF systems, and related programs. This position requires a self-motivated dynamic leader who will participate in the entire BD cycle of lead generation, opportunity maturation and tracking, capture, proposal development and generally guide the entire sales cycle in selling products and engineering services. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Lead the business development efforts for KSRE's Systems business unit growth, including market analysis and understanding, and Sales/margin generation above an agreed upon level annually,
Identify potential clients and opportunities in the EO/IR, RF, and Microelectronics target markets and complete appropriate research on the prospective client's business needs,
Develop strategic relationships with prospective clients, while maintaining existing client relationships,
Partner with internal and external teams to create contract-winning proposals for current and prospective clients.
Leverage the talents of the engineering team while also identifying and capturing growth opportunities.
Work alongside engineers to develop strategic transition plans for captured work.
Other Job Functions Work as primary point of contact to customers and stakeholders.
Monitor current and future technology trends and capabilities to identify how new technology can be integrated into our portfolio to better support business objectives.
Establish and maintain solid working relationships with new and existing customers and peers in government area.
Analyze and review government budgeting processes .
Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership and other management teams.
Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Minimum Qualifications US Citizenship required.
Must be able to obtain/maintain security clearance at a level equivalent to Department of Defense (DOD) SECRET
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of relevant aerospace industry experience
5+ years of experience in a lead business development role
Knowledge of aerospace and defense acquisition cycle
Proven track record of engaging with DoD agencies at a senior level, understanding of the DoD mission and ability to effectively interface with individuals at all levels of DoD organizations and agencies with related interests.
Experience developing and landing large contracts specifically focused on government airborne and ground based sensor systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation of group presentations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Strong negotiating skills interacting with all organizational levels required.
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to influence internal support, and ability to function independently with limited supervision and feedback.
