Bus Driver

SUMMARY This position will be one of several on-call bus drivers to support HCC activities to numerous destinations within a 200 mile radius. Please note, this is a temporary, part-time position and the number of hours per week will vary according to the needs of the College. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS A. The HCC Bus Drivers report directly to and are responsible to the Coordinator of Commercial Vehicle Transportation. B. The HCC Bus Drivers coordinate most closely with CVT Staff and various other internal departments. ESSENTIAL DUTIES A. Major duties of this position 1. Safely operate a 45 passenger bus on public and private roads. 2. Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections. 3. Refuel bus. 4. Monitor loading, unloading, and transportation of passengers and cargo to ensure it is done in a safe manner. 5. Understand, implement, and adhere to HCC temporary employee handbook policies and applicable state and federal regulation. 6. Coordinate the details of the assigned trip, from dispatch to departure, with group leader or coach. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Must have a clean driving record Must possess and maintain a CDL A or B driver's license with passenger endorsement. Must have a current DOT physical Previous bus driver experience requested-3 years or more preferred Experience driving a public school bus preferred Must have basic knowledge of passenger carrying regulations and safely operate a passenger bus with up to 45 passengers on board. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must be able to perform required vehicle inspection and fueling Must adhere to state and federal regulations Must be flexible to accommodate varying work hours Must be able to communicate effectively WORKING ENVIRONMENT Must be able to bend, reach, and lift approximately 5-10 pounds. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
