The board eligible/certified general or plastic surgeon will be involved in all aspects of burn care at Shriners Hospitals for Children South California.


This position is full time, non-exempt and benefits eligible. The pay range for this position is $174.51 - 246.37/hour. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.



This is not an all-inclusive list of this job's responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


• Patient evaluation/treatment in the acute and reconstructive phases for adults and children

• Initial resuscitation

• Airway and breathing management

• Critical care

• Management of compartment syndromes

• Acute wound coverage (burn excision, skin grafting, flap coverage with skills in advanced flap techniques, etc.)

• Nutrition and metabolic management

• Scar management

• Reconstruction skills (basic skills)

• Principles of burn rehabilitation and re-socialization
• The ability and experience to conduct scholarly/clinical/translational research.

• Evidence of success in obtaining extramural funding and/or administering clinical trials
• Participation in medical education programs both as attendees and presenters.
• Effectiveness of working relationships with other surgeons and hospital staff
• The ability to work with underprivileged and interact with the local and international community.

• The ability to assist with reintegration of burn survivors into society.
