Kelly Press is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Engineer and Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and safety of our printing facility located in Maryland. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building engineering, maintenance, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Salary is commensurate with experience.



1. Facility Maintenance:


• Perform routine inspections of the facility to identify and address maintenance issues promptly.


• Negotiate and execute contracts for HVAC, plumbing, landscaping and other maintenance/services.


• Conduct regular maintenance tasks such as HVAC system checks, plumbing repairs, electrical maintenance, and equipment servicing.


• Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or maintenance tasks as needed.


• Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment service history.


2. Building Systems Management:


• Monitor and maintain the building's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.


• Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to electrical systems, lighting, and plumbing.


• Implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.


• Respond promptly to emergency situations such as power outages, leaks, or equipment malfunctions.


3. Safety and Compliance:


• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company policies.


• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.


• Implement corrective measures to address safety concerns and prevent accidents.


• Maintain documentation of safety inspections, incident reports, and compliance records.


4. Emergency Response:


• Serve as a primary point of contact for emergency situations and respond promptly to emergency calls outside of regular working hours.


• Coordinate with local authorities, emergency services, and relevant stakeholders during emergency situations.


• Implement emergency protocols and evacuation procedures to ensure the safety of employees and visitors.


5. Team Collaboration:


• Collaborate with other departments to support facility-related projects and initiatives.
• Provide technical assistance and guidance to colleagues on building maintenance issues.


• Perform administrative tasks related to building property management, including maintaining accurate records and files for equipment and supplies.


• Participate in cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency and address facility-related challenges.


6. Qualifications:


• High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications or vocational training in building maintenance, HVAC, or related fields preferred.


• Proven experience in building maintenance, facility management, or a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.


• Proficiency in troubleshooting equipment and performing repairs.


• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.


• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.


• Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or overtime as needed.
