Job Details

Job Title: Construction Bookkeeper

Overview:
We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Construction Bookkeeper to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably within the construction industry. This role requires expertise in financial management, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable for construction projects.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, payroll, and expense reports.
Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
Prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, and payments in a timely manner.
Monitor project budgets and expenses, providing regular reports to management.
Collaborate with project managers and contractors to track project costs and ensure accuracy in billing.
Assist with month-end and year-end financial closing procedures.
Prepare financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets.
Assist in the preparation of tax documents and filings.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounting function.
Support the finance team with ad-hoc projects and tasks as needed.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks or Sage.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Knowledge of construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint) is a plus.
Familiarity with construction contracts and project management processes is desirable.
