ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: The Board Certified Behavioral Analyst is evaluated by and responsible to report to the assigned program supervisor and in their absence to the Director of Special Education and Alternative Programs and in their absence to the Assistant Executive Director/Chief Academic Officer. JOB DEFINITION: The Board Certified Behavioral Analyst's primary responsibility is to enhance student progress and achievement by providing behavioral coaching and support to schools, families and communities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: Participate as a member of educational team(s) and attends meeting as necessary and appropriate (e.g. Individual Education Plan (IEP), classroom teaming, observations, assessments etc.) Assess student needs; progress; and performance in social, emotional and behavioral, academic and/or developmental areas. Leads and assists educational staff in the development, maintenance and implementation of classroom behavioral plans, IEP goals, progress monitoring positive behavioral support plans and/or crisis management plans. Leads and assists educational staff in the development and application of management techniques and strategies that support the delivery of effective instruction. Creates data collection tools to guide behavioral goal development in the IEP. Collects and analyzes behavioral data to report on functional performance. Provides case management services (i.e., ongoing review of student needs; resources; progress; performance; and acts as liaison between school, family and community agencies) as applicable. Maintains contact with appropriate agencies, private physicians and/or therapists, school district and/or intermediate unit personnel, etc. regarding student needs and progress as appropriate. Works with Program Supervisor to plan and implement program operations. Contributes toward development and maintenance of an environment which is non-threatening, safe, nurturing and where students feel respected, accepted and welcomed. Maintains a knowledge base of current theories and practices in the field by attending pertinent Professional Development/Continuing Education programs, networking with professional colleagues and reading relevant professional literature. Advises administrators and staff regarding best practices and regulations on behavioral interventions. Advises administrators and staff regarding programmatic needs for department. Provides or participates in professional development on pertinent topics related to the program assigned. Attends staff or program planning meetings as assigned. Completes all required reports and records within established timelines as required by Federal and State regulations and adheres to CSIU policies and procedures. Organize and conduct Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA). Provide professional development and clinical oversight for Registered Behavior Technician(s) (RBT). NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Performs other related duties as assigned by the program supervisor of Special Education or designee. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: A Master's degree in school psychology, special education, applied behavioral analysis or related field is required. A valid Board-Certified Behavioral Analysis (BCBA) certification issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) is required and subject to bi-annual renewal requirements to remain active BCBA certification. Additionally, five (5) years of successful work experience in an educational environment, in the field of autism, with students with mental health or emotional issues, in special education environments, in consultative models as a community liaison having experience in diverse educational settings, or in a wide variety of service delivery models is required. Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills. Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, data entry, email and experience managing file sharing with Google Drive. Adept at using virtual meeting platforms such as Skype, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize the task based on project deadlines. And must be able to type accurately and maintain a high level of productivity. Skilled in maintaining accurate records and preparing clear and concise reports. Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues, co-workers, community agency personnel, and students/trainees. Requires the ability to develop and maintain positive and collaborative relationships using tact and diplomacy and to remain calm in unpredictable situations. Maintain confidentiality regarding education programs, students and parents at all times adhering to the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements to protect staff and student data. ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: Current, approved Act 34 (PA State Police), Act 151 (PA Child Abuse Registry) and Act 114-FBI Fingerprint clearances are required and must be renewed at appropriate, specific intervals pursuant to Act 153 of 2014 (revised Act 15 of 2015). Current, approved Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training certificate showing completion of a minimum of three (3) hours training every five (5) years. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIREMENTS: In accordance with PA Chapter 14.133, staff will participate in training regarding behavior prevention, de-escalation, and/or safe physical management techniques. Complete professional development opportunities as recommended by the immediate supervisor. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Training in and the ability to implement fully all components of safe crisis management. Ability to travel to various work locations is required. Sedentary: Able to sit for extended periods of time, occasional walking, standing (as necessary) and able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Dexterity: Finger movements (computer keyboard, calculator), eye-hand coordination (office equipment, etc.). Audio-Visual Requirements: Within normal range with or without correction. Is able to move throughout all buildings, floors and grounds. Worksite Environment: Primarily indoors-office setting with occasional exposure to outdoor elements/climate during the day. Mental demands: Steady response to unpredictable situations, ability to remain calm and productive during stressful situations. Demonstrates independent judgment, discretion and is able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Ability to travel to various work site locations and meetings as needed. TIME REQUIREMENTS: This is a full time bargaining agreement position working 188 days per year with the requirement to work up to 200 days as directed by the immediate supervisor Attendance at work is a requirement of this position; any and all absences must be approved by the immediate supervisor.
