THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION GENERAL FUNCTION: The Job Coach will be responsible for the development of job coaching and employment plans. The job coach will be responsible for the service delivery of intake, job coaching, and situational evaluation for individuals at the Brunswick Interagency Program and outside referrals from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Under general supervision they will assist adults with developmental disabilities in the development of skills necessary to obtain the maximum level of independence within their employment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Professional behavior at all times consistent with Brunswick Community College Interagency mission, values, philosophy and policies/procedures. Complies with Department of Health and Human Services Division of Vocational Rehabilitation policies and procedures. Treat individuals and others with dignity and respect and contributes to individuals quality of life. Creates harmonious working environment while maintaining positive working relationships with co-workers, employers, families, and any state of government representatives that employees may come in contact with. Works with full circle of support (i.e. individual's families, local and government agencies) to aid in the individual's success. Assist individuals in the development of basic social skills, assist with budgeting earnings, personal hygiene, appearance, and pre-vocational skills. Assist individuals in securing adequate and safe transportation. Records monthly progress reports, task analysis, testing results and wage calculations in a complete confidential record held by the agency Electronically record progress notes in a timely manner on the DHHS website BEAM and submit them for supervisors' approval. Work with employers in analyzing each job and correcting any individual/job related problem. Assist with and review individual's job application, tax forms, time cards, time sheets and any other necessary forms. Communicates and interacts effectively with employers, individual's families, immediate supervisor, individuals, business managers/owners, Vocational Rehabilitation Staff Operate and utilize various types of machines and equipment including basic keyboard, cash register, telephone, fax machine, and fast food restaurant equipment. Ability to use independent and sound judgement in non-routine situations. Job may require unusual hours depending on the job needs of the individuals, including but not limited to nights, weekends and holidays. Confidentiality is extremely imperative. Brunswick Community College follows FERPA guidelines MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma with five years' experience post high school graduation or Associates Degree with a minimum of three years of experience working with disabilities in a community setting Understanding of and commitment to the unique nature and role of education and skill development for adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities Ability to work with students who may be dually diagnosed with mental health issues, physical and medical issues, as well as developmental disabilities NCI Certification and CPR Valid Driver License General Statute 122C-80 Criminal History Record consent is required as well as fingerprint check if the applicant has been a resident of NC for less than 5 years PERFERRED REQUIREMENTS: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Working knowledge of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services BEAM system
