Bioengineer Patent Attorney Job Summary
Our esteemed Amlaw200 client is seeking a bioengineer patent attorney for their Houston office to assist in transactional work and patent prosecution. Bioengineer Patent Attorney Responsibilities
•  Conduct thorough analysis and review of bioengineering patent applications, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and patent office guidelines
•  Draft high-quality patent applications for bioengineering inventions, including detailed technical descriptions and legal claims
•  Collaborate with inventors, scientists, and clients to understand the technical aspects of bioengineering inventions and provide strategic legal advice
•  Conduct patentability searches and analyze prior art to assess the novelty and patentability of bioengineering inventions
•  Prepare responses to office actions from patent examiners, including drafting arguments and amendments to overcome rejections
•  Manage and maintain a portfolio of bioengineering patent applications, including tracking deadlines, communicating with clients, and filing necessary documentation
•  Assist in due diligence investigations and provide legal opinions related to intellectual property matters in transactional work, such as mergers, acquisitions, and licensing agreements, with a focus on bioengineering technologies
•  Stay updated on changes in patent law and regulations related to bioengineering inventions, and advise clients accordingly.
•  Participate in meetings, hearings, and negotiations with clients, patent examiners, and opposing counsel as needed, representing the firm's expertise in bioengineering patents
•  Work collaboratively with other attorneys and support staff within the Houston office and across the firm to provide comprehensive legal services to clients
•  Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive client information and matters related to bioengineering patents
•  Support business development efforts by participating in client pitches, presentations, and networking events to attract new clients and maintain existing relationships, with a focus on bioengineering industries and stakeholders Bioengineer Patent Attorney Position Requirements
•  Doctor of Jurisprudence from an accredited law school with exceptional academic credentials (top 25% required)
•  4+ years of experience Bar membership in both Texas and the USPTO A book of portables/business is a plus
