Job Description
The Billing Specialist ensures the accuracy of billing for the services provided to patients in the emergency setting. The Billing Specialist checks for documentation in the medical record before pushing the charge to the patient; if documentation is not correct, the Billing Specialist will reach out to those people needed to make the appropriate changes. The Billing Specialist will document appropriately whenever changes are needed to a patient's account/bill.

As an accredited Chest Pain Center and a Primary Stroke Center, nurses in this unit can expect to work closely with first responders and heart and vascular specialists to deliver fast, efficient care.

Education
High School Diploma
Certifications/Experience:
BLS required within 30 days
Experience in clerical setting helpful, preferably medical office or hospital setting preferred
Typing and computer skills preferred.
General Responsibilities
Keeps current with changes in billing procedures that impact process and/or reimbursement effectiveness.
Possess good working knowledge of the computer system and the various screens and functions. Enters corrected/updated information into the appropriate screens. Records information in collection notes to document all transactions and encounters.
