Job Requisition ID: R Job Category: Clerical and Customer Service Organization: Transplant Clinical Staff Location/s: Main Campus Jackson Job Title: Billing Specialist III - Transplant-Kidney Job Summary: Oversees the financial processes, billing reviews and analysis for specialized services. Provides data measurement support to the revenue cycle department. Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Business or related field and five (5) years of related hospital or medical office third party billing and collections experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience. Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and governmental programs, or specialized experience preferred. Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required: NA Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Computer literacy, math, analytical, customer service, attention to detail, ethics and integrity are necessary skills for this role. Responsibilities Demonstrates exceptional knowledge, judgement and experience in the execution of primary and secondary claims billing, follow up and reimbursement reconciliation. Timely and accurate review, processing and resolution of charges, invoice items, system edits and claim errors. Performs timely reconciliation of claims dropping from the billing system into the claims editor. Distributes correspondence and impactful review issues to revenue cycle managers. Provide onsite auditing, monitoring, and workflow assistance to ensure revenue cycle best practices. Submit recommendations to management for developmental training for employees not meeting quality guidelines. Investigates and responds to questions or requests for additional information in a timely and professional manner to ensure proper, timely and accurate payment/resolution of accounts. Collaborates with revenue cycle leadership to develop, secure approval of, and oversee implementation of policies and procedures to meet agreed upon performance standards. Collect and analyze performance data to support revenue cycle productivity improvement. Audit and analyze accounts for incomplete documentation, workflow improvement, and productivity errors that identify improvement opportunities. Identifies and resolves billing inaccuracies/issues. Identifies provider/payer contracting/reimbursement issues and acts as point of contact with payers, affiliated providers/programs. Advises stakeholders (revenue cycle, contract dept., research coordinators, compliance), of issues affecting or related to system and/or operations related to billing and reimbursement.
