Buffalo Hearing & Speech is currently seeking a Full time Billing Assistant in our Finance department. This is an entry level position and an excellent opportunity to gain medical billing experience. This is a hybrid remote position where time can be spent both in the Buffalo office and at home working 8am - 4pm once training has been completed.
Job Summary
The Billing Assistant is responsible for a variety of billing as assigned individually by the accounts receivable manager. This includes Early Childhood billing, Medicare/Medicare HMO's, Blue Cross, IHA, Univera, Medicaid/Medicaid HMO's, Contract & Private Patient billing.
Essential Functions
- Data entry of all necessary billing information
- Prints and distributes daily encounter forms. Must review encounter forms for accuracy and track missing encounter forms
- Completes necessary entry, processing and follow up for the following types of billing
- Resolves all billing issues for all billing. Reviews claims for missing and incorrect information
- Updates necessary departments with applicable insurance information
- Posting and reconciliation of daily cash receipts for all locations
- Remain current with applicable billing policies and meets with necessary departments to stay abreast of any changes
- Run necessary reports of billing data as needed for the required department
- Additional duties as requested by your supervisor
Required Skills
- Prior Practice Management system and electronic claim filing experience including maintenance of data tables Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing guidelines
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word
Minimum Degree Required: High school diploma/GED

- Vision, speech, tactical and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
