This position is located in Evanston, Illinois.


The Bilingual Community Engagement and Client Support Coordinator contributes to making our community a place where women and girls can thrive and achieve their dreams through financial advancement. The position coordinates participant outreach, orientation, and enrollment; assesses participant needs that might cause barriers to program completion and connects clients to essential support services; and coordinates graduation activities and processes, and ongoing support for post-program success. This essential member of the LEAP team contributes to creating a warm and welcoming space for women and children with an ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, trauma-informed services for clients of YWCA Evanston/North Shore.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Case Management (50%)

  • Assesses participant needs for wrap-around support services and creates a plan to alleviate barriers to accessing programming and training completion.
  • Fosters safe and supportive relationships with participants and works collaboratively with colleagues to deepen support for participants.
  • Keeps proper documentation and records of participant needs, including but not limited to assessing support needs and tracking interactions.
  • Advises and coaches participants in both English and Spanish in accessing community resources and as needed assists them in securing appropriate documentation, completing related documents, and accompanies participants when accessing community resources.
  • Compiles and refers resources to clients based on identified needs, including but not limited to food access, utility assistance, affordable housing, housing programs, childcare, transportation, and clothing.

Program Support (35%)

  • Assists the economic advancement team with outreach efforts and staff recruitment events.
  • Coordinates program orientations including scheduling, managing RSVPs, communicating reminders, location details, tracking attendance, and providing follow-up.
  • Helps participants with completing enrollment paperwork, including collaboration with outside partner
  • Collects, keeps, and tracks program paperwork such as waivers, consent forms, support service needs, and reimbursement needs.
  • Contacts and interviews program at regular intervals, assessing needs, providing support, and filling out surveys/matrix as needed.
  • Arrange and track the distribution of equipment and supplies.
  • Provides assistance in translating program materials.

Community Outreach (10%)

  • Identifies, cultivates, and maintains strategic community partnerships that could contribute to and enrich support services, and advocates within those organizations for the benefit of our clients.
  • Supports participant recruitment goals through active community outreach.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES (5%)

  • Provides and attends staff training and participates in agency committees.
  • Pursues professional development.
  • Understands and adheres to all YWCA Evanston/North Shore procedures and policies as well as YWCA Employee Handbook.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience and/or Training: At least 1 year of experience working with clients of diverse backgrounds in a social service setting.

Language: Fluent in conversational Spanish with intermediate reading and writing proficiency.

Licenses/Certificates:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Completion of Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training completed within 3 months of employment.
  • First Aid/CPR within 6 months of employment.

Technology/Equipment: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in social work, sociology, urban studies, or related area of study.

Experience and/or Training

  • At least two years of experience in providing case management services to diverse populations.
  • Experience providing program support, including scheduling, coordinating logistics, record keeping, and implementing systems to keep work organized and efficient.
  • Experience working with the Latino and African American populations.
  • Experience working with survivors of trauma.
  • Experience building community partnerships.

Language: Advanced fluency in conversational Spanish with advanced reading and writing proficiency.

Licenses/Certificates:

  • Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance.
  • Illinois 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training certificate.

Technology/Equipment:

  • Intermediate proficiency in online case management systems.
  • Access to reliable automobile.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Intermittent (less than 15%), Occasional (15-45%), Frequent (50-75%), and Continuous (over 75%).

  • Intermittent nights and/or weekends required for events or meetings.
  • Intermittent local and intermittent statewide travel required.
  • Tolerance of prolonged and continuous stationary periods at a desk/computer
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs, reach with hands and arms, and reach above shoulders.
  • Occasionally required to push, pull, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to move about the facility.
  • Must be able to operate controls for computers and other equipment.
