Position Title Bike Technician
Department Environmental Center
Work SchedulePosition SummaryWith support from Environmental Center Staff, the Bike Technician oversees all operations of the Bike Collective on campus, including bike maintenance appointments, bike-related events, and long-term bike rentals. The Bike Technician is responsible for the assisting members of the Westminster community with bike maintenance, including diagnosing the issue and helping the patron to repair their bike.
The Bike Technician will:
- Maintain campus rental bike fleet, completing any repairs necessary
- Coordinate appointments with community members in need of bike maintenance
- Maintain a clean and organized bike shop space
- Promote Bike Collective programs and services to the campus community
- Track short- and long-term bicycle rentals
- Track payments for rentals, tubes, and other bike parts sold
- Organize educational events to promote cycling knowledge on campus
Required Qualifications - Must be an experienced bicycle mechanic with full technical competence.
- Ability to independently work through the bike repair process, from diagnosing the issue to completing the repair
- Strong communication skills with an ability to teach about the complexities of bike repair in a kind, digestible way to a broad spectrum of people
- Passion for bicycles as an important alternative mode of transit
- Ability to manage multiple challenges concurrently
- Reliable and able to work independently
