Job Title: Behavioral Support Specialist - Rapid Response Team Branch: Association Office Pay Class: Full Time/Exempt Shifts Available: Monday-Friday/Day Rate: $50,903 - 63,629 About the YMCA of Greater Brandywine: The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all. Position Purpose: The Chester County Rapid Response Team (Operated through the YMCA of Greater Brandywine) is looking to add a lead Behavior Support Specialist to their growing team. Behavior Support Specialists (BSS) on the Rapid Response Team (RRT) work closely with childcare staff, families, and children to help develop relationships and address environmental considerations. The team's goal is to help all children become successful in early social and educational settings. The RRT ensures a child can remain in their center and educational placement. The RRT provides support within 48 hours of a center submitting a referral. Behavior Specialists on the RRT will provide guidance after thorough data collection and observation. This information will help determine the function of the child's behavior and guide the team's recommendations on how relationships and the environment may be modified to provide additional support for the child. The team will also meet with providers and families to support resources and strategies to help children stay in the childcare setting and grow, thrive, and succeed. Responsibilities: Conducts observations and provides consultation to Early Learning Centers across Chester County for children displaying problem behavior - at risk of suspension or expulsion from program. Support teachers by implementing ABA based strategies identified in children's positive behavior support plans, and collects behavior data for subsequent analysis Provide on-going training, support, and modeling for teachers on how to: minimize common problem behaviors, and how to work with children who display a diverse array of emotional and behavioral challenges With the support of association BCBA, create behavior strategies for children while promoting a positive environment and instilling the core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility With the support of program directors and BCBA, meet with parents, staff, and key stakeholders to create a collaborative and multi-disciplinary approach to managing behaviors for a positive outcome Connect families and childcare centers with community resources and supports Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or related field, required. Registered Behavior Technician preferred At least 2 years of experience in a school or clinical setting working on a team, required Experience working with children on the autism spectrum ages 2-12, preferred An understanding of positive behavior approaches Demonstrated engagement in community outreach, events, and committees, with a proactive approach to building partnerships and fostering collaboration with local organizations and stakeholders to support the needs of children and enhance program effectiveness. Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, with experience in developing and implementing programs that address the needs of diverse populations, including those from marginalized or underserved communities. Proven ability to create and maintain an inclusive and safe space for children, fostering an environment where all individuals feel respected, valued, and supported in their personal and developmental journeys. Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to address challenges and make strategic decisions. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and engage with diverse groups of children and community members. Proficient in data management, including conducting thorough research, gathering accurate data, and maintaining records. Collaborate with the leadership team to make informed decisions regarding youth programs. Excellent organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively. Proficient in multitasking and adept at managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in computer skills including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
