JOB SUMMARY The Behavioral Services Tech functions a key member of an interdisciplinary team providing highly structured psychiatric and or substance abuse services to the population served. Behavioral Services Techs function under the direct supervision of an RN. of Service: Inpatient Behavioral Services consists of D3 (a 13-bed adolescent (12 years) psychiatric unit, C4 (an 18-bed adult psychiatric unit), and D4 (an 18-bed detox/rehab unit). JOB REQUIREMENTS Education: High School diploma or equivalent required CNA or BHP certification preferred In lieu of certification, college training in mental health technology, behavioral science, social work, rehabilitation therapy, or its equivalent may be substituted for the general experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling six (6) months of experience up to a maximum of two (2) years. Completion of a mental health training certificate program may be substituted for six (6) months BLS certification required CPR required within 60 days of hire Patient de-escalation training is required within 60 days of hire MANDT required for brief but extreme periods of physical intervention to manage out Experience: 1 year of previous experience in behavioral health services Other Skills Required: Ability to handle multiple priorities and work well under pressure Ability to manage stress appropriately Flexibility required to provide coverage 24 hours/day, 7 days per week Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills Covenant Health System Values ORGANIZATIONAL VALUES AND RESPONSIBILITIES COMPASSION We show respect, caring and sensitivity towards all, honoring the dignity of each person, especially the poor, vulnerable and suffering.
