Job Summary: Provides individualized patient assessments and behavioral treatments, understanding the developmental needs and range for each patient. Identifies and helps change potentially self-destructive or unhealthy behaviors in individuals. Works as part of a team of practitioners in the organization. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: Certificate from college or technical school in mental health related education: Preferred Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Required Master's Degree: Preferred Experience working with acute psychiatric inpatients: Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Management of Assaultive Behavior (MOAB) within six months of employment: Required Essential Functions: Interprets patient's self report of behavior and/or appropriate psychological tests. Focuses on the restoration or improvement of physical, social and mental functioning of the patient. Focuses on ways in which people respond to their environment (behavior), and provides opportunities for them to learn healthy behavior in specific and observable ways, leading to a positive outcome (health). Implements/modifies treatment plan as appropriate to meet identified patient needs. Evaluates assigned individual patients, planning and implementing activity therapy sessions for both one-to-one and groups. Ensures group program components are appropriate to the needs of the client population. Initiates appropriate interventions for assigned patient/patient population. Maintains accurate records (e.g., patient attendance, supplies needed, etc.) in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
