Job Description Job Summary The Behavioral Health Technician, acts as a role model and provides direct care for patients under the supervision of professional staff. Recognizes and assists with appropriate interventions for patient problems, records on the medical chart, facilitates education groups, assists with assessments and assists with implementing treatment plans Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein. Essential Functions Establishes a therapeutic relationship with patients through assistance with daily living, which may include personal hygiene, grooming, laundry, meals, etc. Responsible for the overall maintenance of a therapeutic and safe environment in the unit. Performs routine duties such as taking vital signs, height/weight of patients and collects routine specimens, as needed. Documents safety checks and therapeutic communication & 1:1 patient interactions. Leads daily educational groups focused on essential skills patients need to manage their symptoms. Works under immediate supervision of the RN. Reports to a nurse manager or nurse leader. Education Requirement Minimum requirement of a Bachelor's degree with some education or experience in mental health. Prefer a mental health certified associate and/or a degree in a related field i.e. psychology, sociology, etc. Preferred at least one year experience with behavioral health patients, adults and/or geriatrics.
